Through the partnership with the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFIL), the MPEDH continued its Child Protection Policy (CPP) training series in Bukavu on 18-21 December 2018. The workshop was attended by COSOC-GL member organizations and other CSOs working in the mining sector in Bukavu. The Training was held at the office of CENADEP / Kivu and moderated by Mr. Fabien Kanyangusho, Executive Director of MPEDH and provided by Mr. Bundi Bulia President of CPS / South Kivu.
While there are national and international standards for child protection, the training aimed at enabling CSOs to develop and adopt their own child protection policies as an additional governance document for each organization.

The participants obtained a template with six important components that will make it easier for them to produce a draft CPP document. A development timeline has been set and the MPEDH has committed to monitoring the delivery of the CPP document by the members of the organizations that participated in the workshop.
The next steps are Goma and then Bujumbura where similar workshops with the coalition member CSOs will take place within the same framework.
